Texas Wine Country Adventure

When someone thinks about wine tasting, I’m sure Texas isn’t the first (or second, or third) place that comes to mind. I’ve lived in Texas for most of my adult life, and have heard over and over again about how fabulous Texas Wine Country is. Finally, my husband and I drove down for a visit.

The central hub of Texas Wine Country is a town called Fredericksburg, about ninety minutes west of Austin. Fredericksburg was a German settlement and still has German restaurants and architecture that is so charming.

We stayed at the Hoffman Haus, which is a bed and breakfast off of Main Street, in a cute little cottage. Each morning, they delivered a picnic basket with breakfast treats! We were then able to walk through Main Street to different restaurants and tasting rooms. My favorite tasting room was the Grape Creek Tasting Room on Main Street. That tasting room is a collective of four different wineries. We enjoyed everything we tasted, so much that we joined a wine club while we were there!

Sparkling wines at Heath

Off of Main Street, we were able to drive to Heath Sparkling Wines (which is part of the Grape Creek Family). Their tasting room and patio were fabulous. On tasting trips, we typically make it a point to only visit a place once, but we enjoyed that experience so much that we visited twice!

We also visited some friends at Becker Vineyards. I’ve seen Becker wines at a few local wine shops in Dallas and never really thought much about it. We had a great experience! We shared two tastings so we were able to sample several wines. I was pleasantly surprised by the wines and the vineyards were stunning. Becker Vineyards is definitely worth the trip! With lots of open space outside, we saw a lot of families with their children enjoying the grounds.

Overall we had an awesome trip to Fredericksburg - I can’t believe we waited so long to go!
